Ramban: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam Wednesday convened a meeting of the stakeholder departments to review the progress on implementation of water conservation campaign under “Jal Shakti Abhiyan” in the district.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, KasturiLal; ACD, Ashok Katoch; DFO Batote, Technical Officer, AvitarBaradwaj, Engineers of Jal Shakti Department and other senior officers of the District Administration.
The Deputy Commissioner directed ACD and DFOs to share latest information regarding activities taken up under JalJeevan Mission across the district with Jal Shakti Department to formulate a database regarding JJM.
During the meeting a detailed discussion was held on achievements and different activities taken up by the stakeholder departments for preservation, conservation and replenishing/ restoration of water bodies across the district.
The present status of lakes, natural reservoirs, check dams, wells, tube wells and hand pumps and steps required to improve their condition were also discussed threadbare.
The DC stressed that water conservation and water security in the district can be achieved through rainwater harvesting, renovation of traditional water bodies, tanks, bore-well recharge structures, watershed area development and intensive afforestation.
All the stakeholders were directed to carry out the awareness through IEC activities. He stressed upon the officers of concerned departments to work together by synchronizing efforts with an aim to make water conservation.
