B’la: Police on Saturday said that police along with security forces has arrested a hybrid militant of LeT militant outfit in Baramulla and also recovered arms & ammunition from his possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that on a specific information regarding movement of militant in Kreeri area, Police alongwith Army (29RR) established a joint checkpoint in the said area and upon checking one hybrid militant identified as Mohd Iqbal Bhat son of Gulzar Ahmad Bhat resident of Tilgam Payeen, linked with LeT militant outfit was arrested.
Stating further that on searching, arms & ammunition including one Pistol, one Pistol magazine and 7 Pistol rounds were recovered from his possession, Police in its statement further said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was involved in providing logistics support for militant activities and was in touch with Pakistani militant Saifullah and Abu Zarar. Stating that successful apprehension of the hybrid militant has evaded major militant plots and busted the module responsible for various recent attacks on PRI members and non-locals, police in it’s statement further said that the arrested militant was also actively involved in providing chemicals and other materials for carrying out an IED attack on main Highway between Narbal and Renji, stating therein further that interrogation of the apprehended militant is likely to give further inputs for future counter terrorism operations.
Police further said that in this connection, a case under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation has been initiated.
