DC Srinagar reviews progress of developmental activities in Shahr-e-Khaas

DM Directs officers to complete all works within the timeline

Srinagar :In order to review progress of various developmental activities in Shahr-e-Khaas of the district, a meeting of senior officers was Thursday held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.
At the outset, the DC took a Department wise appraisal about the present status of activities undertaken for development of Shahr-e-Khaas including opening of Sunday Market in Eidgah area, installation and repairing of Street lights, construction of public convenience at prominent places in Shahr-e-Khaas, construction/ renovation of 2nd story of SDA shopping complex, allocation of space for car parking in important areas in Shahr-e-Khaas, operation of Cable Car services from Rainawari to ZiyaratMakhdoom Sahib (RA).
The DC directed the Tehsildar Eidgah to submit a viable proposal and details of space to be utilised for establishing Sunday Market as demanded by the Traders of the area. He also directed the Ex. Engineer UEED to expedite the work for improving the drainage system to arrest the water logging issues. While R&B Department was asked to expedite ongoing work for macadamization and road repairs in the area.
Similarly, the DC directed the Engineers of PDD to complete the process of shifting of electric poles at few places as pointed out during the Field visit.
With regard to functioning of Street lights in the area, the DC was informed that all defunct street lights have been made functional in the area from SafaKadal to SKIMS Soura via Dr Ali Jan Road.
The DC directed the officers present in the meeting to work in coordinated manner to ensure all works taken up are completed in a time bound manner so that demands put forth by the trade bodies and other people are fulfilled for overall development and welfare of Shahr-e-Khaas.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, FazlulHaseeb, Joint Commissioner, SMC, Chief Planning Officer, SDM West, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic, Executive Engineers of R&B, KPDCL, PHE, UEED, Drainage Circle, Tehsildars of Eidgah &Khanyar, AD FCS&CA, AD Tourism and other concerned.
