Wild Cannabis destroyed in Sopore &Bandipora

Pulwama|July, 07: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and also recovered contraband substance from their possession besides destroying wild cannabis in Sopore and Bandipora.
In a statement issued on Thursday police said that a police party of PS Litter at a checkpoint established at Naina intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number CHO4K-0125 with two persons on board identified as Umar Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Dass resident of Waghama Bijbehara & Haroon Amin Sheikh son of Mohd Amin Sheikh Resident of Naina Pulwama and upon checking 30Kgs of Fukki was recovered from the said vehicle following which they were arrested & shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating further that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 73/2022 under relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Litter and investigation has been initiated.
Police further said that in Sopore and Bandipora, Police along with excise department destroyed wild cannabis (Bhung) spread over vast areas of land at Rohama Rafiabad and Muqdamyari village of Hajin.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
