Land dispute at Check-e-Kawoosa Narbal: SI at police post sets aside Tehsildar’s orders takes actions on his own whims, wishes

B’gam: Sub Inspector of Police post Gagerpora falling under jurisdiction of SDPO Magam of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district has virtually set aside the orders of Tehsildar Narbal over a land dispute and instead takes actions at his own whims and wishes to allegedly facilitate construction of a concrete structure in place of a tin shed to the utter comfort and convenience of the encroachers.
Taking notice of the grievances of the complainants Tehsildar Narbal on 5th July directed D O Police post Gagerpora to disallow any kind of construction to non applicants at the disputed land, stating therein “further arrest the non applicants as they have been already restricted from construction on the disputed land, produce the violators before this court 5th July” . In contravention of Tehsildar’s orders the DO Police Post Gagerpora arrested only one non applicant and produced others next day before Tehsildar where an written assurance was taken from the violators that they will remove the tin they have built on the disputed land. Locals however said that the violator have laid the foundation for a concrete structure inside the tin shed the size of which they increased from 5ftX5ft to 15ft X15ft which obviously shows compromise on the neutrality of the local police authorities. DO Gagerpora when contacted told Kashmir Horizon “I am not answerable to any one. I will report before Tehsilar if asked to do so”. The complainants have appealed Deputy Commissioner and SSP Budgam for immediate intervention and full implementation of Tehsildar’s directive allegedly violated by DO Police Post Gagerpora.
