Block Diwas: DDC Kathua holds proceedings at distt headquarter

Kathua :District Development Commissioner Rahul Pandey presided over Block Diwas proceedings at the DC Office complex Wednesday.
DDC Member Nagri Sandeep Majotra, Sarpanches, Panchs and officers of line departments attended the outreach programme.
On the occasion, PRI members projected their demands and highlighted issues being faced in their respective jurisdiction by the public. The prominent issues included flood protection works at SaharKhad, early restoration of defunct tubewells and handpumps, fixing accountability of contractors, permissions for cutting of Khair trees in fire prone areas, assessment of crop damages etc.
The DC gave patient hearing to the demands raised on the occasion and passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues.
On flood related grievances, the DC directed the concerned officer to take measures besides directing ACD Kathua to take up flood mitigation and protection works under MGNREGA through convergence.
The DC also directed CMO and ACD Kathua to spread awareness on the benefits and scope of free medical treatment, tests and medicines through Ayushman Cards especially in rural areas. He also called for installing boards at Panchayat Ghars, PHCs and CHCs to disseminate information on Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Regarding the issue of problems faced by the beneficiaries of the State Marriage Assistance Scheme, the DC directed DSWO and AD FCS&CA to devise mechanisms for conversion of BPL to Priority Household category so as to extend benefits to eligible and deserving people.
On the issue of providing orientation training to Civil Defence and SDRF volunteers, the DC passed directions to the concerned to organise awareness cum training camps for their improved preparedness for handling emergency/disaster situations.
The DC also enjoined upon the officers of works department to take action against contractors who defaulted on the terms and conditions of contracts and called for holding them accountable.
Similarly Block Diwas proceedings were also held at Billawar and Basohli under ADCs of respective sub divisions.
