3-day IEEE Int’l Conference on ‘Sustainable Technology for Power & Energy System’ concludes at NIT Srinagar

Such workshops provide a vibrant platform to young engineers: Director

Srinagar: The three-day IEEE international conference on Sustainable Technology for Power and Energy System which was organised by Electrical Engineering Department of NIT Srinagar in collaboration with Electrical Engineering Department of IIT Jammu concluded on Wednesday at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
The conference was inaugurated on 5th July 2022 and the function was attended by the Chief Patron of the conference Prof. (Dr.) RakeshSehgal. Prof. Sri Niwas Singh Director IITM Gawalior was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur Director IIT Jammu was the Guest of honour.
In his inaugural address Director NIT Srinagar, Prof.Sehgal highlighted the importance of energy generation, distribution, and optimal utilization on the global level and said that meeting the growing demand for energy in a safe and environmentally responsible manner was a key challenge for all the stakeholders.
He said such workshops are aimed to provide a vibrant platform for young engineers
Director IIT Jammu, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur said that conference was aimed at discussion and promotion of latest research and technology, exchange of information and technical solutions in the areas of renewable energy, storage system, power system, and system security.
Prof. Sri Niwas Singh, who was Chief Guest at the conference appreciated both NIT Srinagar and IIT Jammu for jointly organizing the event. I hope that this collaboration should be a routine affair between these two institutes of the union territory, he said.
In his keynote address, he highlighted the importance of smart grid operation by implementing efficient transmission and distribution systems, consumer integration along with penetration of renewable energy.
In his special message, Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said such international conferences are need of the hour. He appreciated the EED for organizing the conference on a relevant topic.
Prof. Bukhari said over the past several years, NIT Srinagar has shown tremendous growth in the areas of research and development, which is visible by the number of projects procured by faculty and the number of research articles published in top journals.
Head EED, Dr. Mohammad AbidBazaz while describing the profile of Electrical Engineering Department also highlighted the importance of Renewable Energy integration in the existing power system.
Conference Chairman Prof. Aijaz Ahmad highlighted the importance of transition to a society based on sustainable energy and create innovative technology for the same.
Prof. M.F Wani Dean (R&C) also highlighted the importance of such events. Er. S.G. Lalla from KPDCL Srinagar highlighted the challenges faced by the field engineers to maintain the standards of electrical energy systems. Dr.KushalJagtap, conference Secretary while giving details of the conference presented a vote of thanks.
In the valedictory function on Wednesday, Prof. M.F. Wani, Dean (R&C) was the Chief Guest. The other dignitaries present on the occasion included Prof. S.A. Lone, Prof. A.H Bhat, Dr. M.A. Bazaz, ErShurjeelGhaniLala, CEO, IT JKPDD, and the conference chairman Prof.Aijaz Ahmad.
All the dignitaries highlighted the importance of arranging such events in the present power scenario.
Prof. M.A. Bazaz gave the conference details in respect of a number of papers presented at the conference.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. A.H. Bhat. He appreciated the Electrical Engineering Department fraternity in general and Director Prof.RakeshSehgal in particular for making the event successful. Mementos and certificates were distributed among the guests and participants on the occasion.
