Jammu :In connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Hindi Sahitya Mandal (HSM), Jammu organized a Hindi Kavi Goshthi at SMPR Commerce College, Jammu. Senior Kashmiri writer Ratan Lal Shant was the chief guest on this occasion whereas Dr. Adarsh, a senior writer presided over the programme. Dr. Chanchal Dogra, President, HSM- J shared the dais. The programme was attended by a number of intellectuals, literary personalities, well known poets of different languages, and lovers of art & culture.
The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Chanchal Dogra, President, HSM- I. In her address she gave a brief note about the organization and the introduction of the day’s proceedings. She emphasized on the need of associating new generation with the literary practices in the region.
The young and senior poets viz. Kalpana Khajuria, Dimple Verma, Sofia Jindral, Sunil Kumar, Saurabh Srivastava, Purshotam Kumar, Girija Sharma, Mohan Vaid, Manjeet Singh Kaamra, Jang S. Verman, Gopal Ji, Monto Dutta Sharma, Shamendra Kumar, M K Santoshi, Sanjiv Bhasin, , Shyam Judeja, Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina, Dr. Nirmal Vinod, Subhash Sharma, Sanjiv Bhasin, Uma Sharma, Dr. Chanchal Dogra, Ratan Lal Shant, Dr. Nirmal Vinod and Dr. Adarsh presented their poems in different genres of poetry, depicting various themes of contemporary social, religious and political issues.
In his presidential address, Dr. Adarsh said that Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu has been contributing in organizing literary activities in the region in the field of Hindi for many decades. He said such a programme was needed after Covid era. He added that new writers should try to learn techniques of poetry from the readings of the creations of senior poets. Sanjiv Bhasin, Vice- President, HSM- J coordinated the programme. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Rakesh Abrol, General Secretary and Uma Sharma, Literary Secretary. Jang S. Verman, Press Secretary, HSM- J extended the vote of thanks.
