B’gam : Police on Monday said that it has booked a car lifter under Public Safety Act in Budgam for his continuous involvement in vehicle theft cases.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that the booked person is the kingpin of a vehicle-lifting gangs operating in various districts of J&K especially in Budgam, stating therein further that there was huge resentment among the people for his involvement in repeated criminal activities of car lifting/theft incidents and as such there was every likelihood of turning of said issue of car lifting into law & order problem.
Stating further that the said habitual car lifter who was booked under PSA has been identified as Riyaz Ahmed Rather @RiyazGani son of Abdul Gani Rather resident of NasrullahporaBudgam, Police in it’s above referred statement appealed people to be aware of such fraudsters who take away the vehicles and thereafter sell these to innocent gullible people. Police also asked people not to purchase vehicles without verifying the credentials of vehicle documents and not to fall prey to such fraudsters who usually sell these vehicles at low rates.
