ADDC Kupwara reviews Eid-ul-Adha arrangements

Kupwara :The District Administration Kupwara has put all possible arrangements in place to facilitate general public, devotees on the eve of ensuing Eid-ul-Adha.

The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Khan Monday reviewed the arrangements at an officers meeting held here and fixed responsibilities to the concerned officers to ensure fool-proof arrangements across the district.

The meeting took threadbare discussion and the ADDC received feedback from the officers regarding availability of essential commodities and the mechanism to maintain the price line in the district.

It was given out in the meeting that market checking squads comprising of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs  department, Police, Revenue, Food Safety and other officers shall intensify market checking in all towns to implement government approved rates and ensure availability of all essential commodities.

The ADDC directed the Municipal authorities of Kupwara, Handwara and Langate to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness at their respective jurisdiction, particularly at those places where Eid prayers would be offered.

He exhorted upon the concerned officers to constitute special market squads in all tehsils to keep proper check on quality of food items across the district.

He instructed that a special team of officers and officials of Animal and Sheep husbandry departments shall conduct regular inspections of sacrificial animal sale points to keep check on the health status of animals and ensure sale and purchase of healthy animals at approved rates.

The meeting was informed that special sale markets have been established at bus stand Kupwara and bus stand Handwara where sacrificial animals have been kept on sale.

It was given out that 20,000 animals are available for the purpose in Kupwara, besides, 3500 animals have been exported to Srinagar.

As many as 4 health camps have been made functional at Public Park Kupwara, Bus Stand Handwara, Main ChowkTarathpora, and SDO office GomalTangdar to ensure veterinary health care needs of the sacrificial animals.

ADDC also reviewed the stock and supply position of ration and other essential commodities and was informed that sufficient stock of all essential commodities including LPG is available in the district including border areas of Karnah, Keran and Machill.

The ADDC directed concerned engineers to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply in the district.

Market checking squads were instructed to take strict action against profiteers and black-marketing and ensure that no sub-standard, adulterated or spurious items are sold. The rate list should be displayed on every business establishment, the ADDC directed.

Health department was instructed to ensure first aid camps are held as per past practice and duty roster is followed in letter and spirit at all health centres.

The meeting was attended by SDM Lolab, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Tehsildars, ARTO, DIO, DFSO, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Officers, DySP Headquarter, Executive officer MC Kupwara and other concerned officers.
