Rajouri :A test drive of e Rickshaw and e-auto service was Friday conducted to ascertain their feasibility in the Rajouri Township.
Deputy Commissioner VikasKundal himself drove the e- Rickshaw and e-auto here to check the feasibility of the electric vehicles on different routes in the township.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said “We are conducting a test drive to check their feasibility prior to the launch of the e-Rickshaw and e-auto in the township.”
He said the e-rickshaws were being introduced to contain increasing levels of pollution resulting from growing traffic in the township.
“The electric vehicles are more efficient and charging an electric vehicle is cheaper than filling petrol or diesel for the travel requirements. Once the test drive is successful, these vehicles will be launched in the district and the route permits will be issued in the RTA meeting,” he added.
Among the others, the Deputy Director Employment, QadeerUlRehman; Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Shami Kumar and officials of Motor Vehicle Department were present on the occasion.
