According to the local Meteorological (MeT) department, Srinagar was hotter than Jammu today. The mercury in Jammu settled at 31.7 degree Celsius while in Srinagar the maximum temperature was recorded 34.2 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, Director MeT, Sonum Lotus said that the Monsoon has arrived in plains of Jammu this morning and there is possibility of frequent showers, at times, intense in Jammu region especially in morning hours till July 5th.
Lotus further said that Srinagar touching 34-35 and Jammu 43-44 degree Celsius is not unusual, adding that it happens every year in June.
He further said that the light to moderate rains in spells, especially in morning hours would likely occur at scattered places of J&K, especially in Jammu region during next 4-5 days.
