18 Vehicles seized for illegal extraction, transportation of minerals

Handwara:Police on Thursday said that it has seized 18 vehicles involved in the commission of crime in Handwara and Sopore.
In a statement issued on Thursday police said that in Handwara, a Police party of PS Handwara alongwith Geology & Mining Department seized 06 vehicles (Tippers) bearing registration numbers JK01F-5298, JK02U-7092, JK02AF-8517, JK03-7788, JK05B-0114, JK09-2748 for illegal extractions & transportation of minerals from Government land at NallaWaskura.
Stating further that in Sopore, a Police party of PS Dangiwacha and Police Post Watergam under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad seized 12 vehicles (Tractors) for illegal extractions & transportation of minerals from the Nallah Hamal Yarbugh.
Police in the concluding para of it’s above-referred statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules but warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Police also urged people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
