G’bal: Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) J&K, Shakeel Ur Rehman, along with a team of enforcement Officers District Ganderbal, Wednesday inspected the base camp established in connection with forthcoming Amarnath Yatra at Baltal, Sonamarg scheduled to commence from 30th June 2022.
The team of officers from FDA Headquarter and District Ganderbal during their interaction with management committees of various langars and proprietors of other food establishments listened to their problems/suggestions pertaining to the food safety issues. The facilities established by food providers/langars for the Yatris/Pilgrims were also inspected for Hygiene and Sanitation of premises and kitchen. For the purpose of monitoring the quality of Food available to the pilgrims Mobile Food Testing Vans have been deployed along with the technical staff at the base camp.
The Commissioner advised the caterers and food providers to maintain utmost hygiene and also to maintain the quality of food items and strictly adhere to the various advisories/instructions issued by the competent authorities.
He also directed the field staff of the department to continuously keep inspecting the facilities throughout the Yatra period and monitor the activities of Food Establishments especially Hotels/Restaurants/Street Food Vendors operating in the vicinity of Baltal/Sonamarg.
The Commissioner also directed the concerned officers to ensure availability of medicines for the pilgrims as well as for the inhabitants and service providers connected with the Yatra.
The Commissioner was accompanied by State Nodal Officer, Food Safety Officer HQ, Ganderbal, and Food Safety Officer Kashmir Division.
