Allah decided to create the universe and because of his unlimited power and authority he commanded things to come into being. Allah then made all living creatures, the Angels, the planets and the rain to allow vegetation to grow. Allah sent Angels to Earth to collect seven handfuls of soil, all different colours, and that with soil Allah made the first man, Adam, breathing life and power into him. Hawa the first woman, was created from the side of Adam and lived with him in Paradise. Adam (AS) and Hawa disobeyed Allah, though they were forgiven, and were sent from Paradise to the Earth which Allah had created. The Earth had been created to allow Adam(AS) and Eve and their descendants (the human race) to live and thrive. Creation took Allah six days to complete and among all those beautiful creations, Allah created a beautiful person known as Mother. There is a Hadith in Sahih Al-Bukhari which states that “A man came to Prophet Mohammad (SAW) and said ‘O Messenger of Allah! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet (SAW) said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet (SAW) said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet (SAW) said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your father. Every religion has given a mother a high status.
Talking from the Islamic point of view once a man came to the Noble Prophet Mohammad (SAW) saying: “O, Prophet Mohammad SAW! I am young and vigorous, and ready for action and service, and wish to go to the battle-front for the advancement of Islam, but my mother does not let me leave her and go to war.”
The Prophet said: “Go and stay with your mother. I swear to the Almighty Allah who chose me as a Prophet that the spiritual reward which you receive for serving her even one night and making her happy with your presence, is greater than a one-year long holy war.” Mother is truly a blessing from Almighty Allah. Each and every day we must thank Almighty Allah for this beautiful creation as she cares without any charges. She understands you without uttering a word. Allah rightly says in the Quran in Surah Al-Nisa that children should be kind to their parents. Although Islam has clear directives to honour and respect parents but mothers are given particular gratitude and respect. Islam teaches us that respect for a parent comes immediately after praying to AlmightyAllah and before jihad (struggle and striving in the way of Allah). We hope and we pray In Sha Allah we will respect our parents while they are alive and even after they pass away we must Pray for them, Give charity on their behalf, Perform Hajj and read Quran everyday on their behalf. Ya Allah! Help us to be respectful children to our parents. Ameen.
