B’la: Recognizing the exemplary services rendered towards the welfare of Tribal Community, the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Baramulla, Yar Ali Khan was felicitated with the first-ever Tribal Welfare Award-2022 which evoked a louder applause from the concerned quarters.
The award was conferred by the Lieutenant Governor of J&K during a felicitation ceremony organized at SKICC, Srinagar wherein individuals and institutions were felicitated for their extraordinary services to tribal welfare.
The ACD has been awarded for working tirelessly for the holistic development and empowerment of tribal communities by promoting and undertaking multifaceted activities in different domains of their lives.
Expressing contentment over the achievement, the ACD said that the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Baramulla has taken some novel measures which aimed to bring a positive change in the lives of tribal community.
He said that the department has worked towards their community development in the form of Road connectivity, fostering entrepreneurship amongst tribal youth through Self Help Groups (SHGs), providing potable drinking water, constructing houses for houseless people, achieving saturation in individual beneficiary schemes among other necessities.
For ameliorating the economic conditions of Tribal Communities, ACD informed that RDD is working in collaboration with other Departments for evolving an effective and comprehensive strategy so as to enhance the income of tribal families and providing life-fulfilling opportunities to the youth.
He added that necessary awareness about the Forest Rights Act, was disseminated among the tribals by publishing small booklets in the vernacular language. The ACD said that different outreach programmes were conducted in far flung tribal areas where their grievances and aspirations were heard by the concerned authorities. Such activities were carried out to realize the mission of taking governance at the doorstep for smooth and convenient public service delivery.
Furthermore, the ACD informed that steps were taken for the revival and preservation of cultural heritage of the tribal community.
He also reiterated the commitment of tribal welfare and asserted that our focus shall remain on convergence of all available welfare schemes so that maximum benefits are percolated at the grassroots level.
