Munich/New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the India of today is one filled with unparalleled possibilities, and led by a government that has strong direction and is taking new resolutions to realise the dreams of the nation and its people.
Addressing an ecstatic full house gathering of Indians at the Audi Dome in Munich, the PM also said that the day, June 26, is a reminder of the dark days of Emergency when the democratic rights of the people were crushed, and the day is a black mark in India’s vibrant democracy.

“Indians wherever they are have pride in India’s democracy, and Indians can say with pride that India is the mother of democracy,” the PM said to a loudly cheering crowd.

Referring to the achievements of the government in providing toilets, drinking water, gas connections, electricity to homes, across the country, the PM said the long list of achievements of the country is proof that when a country goes forward with the right mindset and dedication then the engine of growth takes it onwards.

He said that there are on average over 5,000 patents being filed in a month, over 500 railway coaches being made, 18 lakh homes being joined by piped water.

The PM said that when Germany and other western nations took advantage of the third industrial revolution, India was still under colonial rule, but in the 21st century during the fourth industrial revolution India is not to be left behind. “In the industrial revolution 4.0 India is among those taking charge of IT, digital tech, and India’s flag is flying high,” he said to a loudly cheering crowd.

He said that India accounted for 40 percent of the global digital transactions and India has the cheapest data rates in the world.

The rate at which Indians are taking to new tech is enough to surprise people, the PM said, adding that the CoWin platform for booking Covid vaccines has 110 crore registrations, while 22 crore Indians are linked to the Aarogya Setu app, and the government e-marketplace has 50 lakh sellers registered.

In drone technology, India’s progress in unprecedented, he said, adding that drones are being used for agricultural sprinkling, for mapping land and homes in rural areas, and is also being used in disaster relief.

“Today’s India has left behind the ‘hota hai , chalta hai , mindset. Today’s India has the mindset of have to do, and do on time. We are going forward with that mindset,” he added.

“India today is ready, and impatient for development and for realising its dreams. India today believes in its own strength and its own capabilities, and India today is setting new records and achieving new milestones,” the PM said.

He said the Made in India Covid-19 vaccines have helped saved countless lives in India and elsewhere.

The PM recalled that in 2015 when he was in Germany, Start-up India was a mere phrase. “But today India has the third biggest start up ecosystem.”

“There was a time when even the simplest smartphone was imported. Today India is the second biggest mobile phone manufacturer, and Indian made phones are going to the world,” he said, adding that India’s bio tech economy has grown to stand at 80 billion USD.

“This is a government with direction, and seeing new dreams and making new resolutions and trying to realise the dreams. … India today is ready, and impatient for development and for realising its dreams. India today believes in its own strengths and its own capabilities,” he added.

The PM said the roadmap for the next 25 years of Atmanirbhar Bharat is ready.

‘India today is among those to give solutions to global challenges and not cry, like before,” he said, referring to the two Indian climate action initiatives of Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and the International Solar Alliance.

He referred to the New Education Policy, and said it would help create a new heritage for the youth and empower them, and added that it provides a lot of opportunities for German institutes to partner with Indian ones.

Referring to the diaspora as “rashtradoot” or ambassadors, he said that the country will expect more from the diaspora in the next 25 years. “You are India’s success stories and India’s brand ambassadors…. I have crores of rashtradoot in the diaspora,” he said to cheering.
