Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Thursday reviewed the functioning of the ICDS, at a meeting of concerned officers, here.
The DC held threadbare discussion with regard to implementation of various deliverables and schemes of ICDS and received updated status and feedback from concerned officers.
The DC directed all ICDS Project Officers to upgrade their working and ensure that the targets given under deliverables be achieved within the stipulated time frame. He asked them to ensure visibility of Anganwadi Centres by painting walls and register geo-tagging of all Anganwadi Centres.
He also directed Project Officers to ensure rationalization of Anganwadi Centres as per the directives of the Government. He asked them to ensure training of all 2320 Anganwari workers in a phased manner.
Khalid Jahangir asked officers to conduct community based events, PoshanAbhiyaan every month and provide awareness regarding basic health principles among the stakeholders, adding that there are three main principles viz. physical exercise, balanced diet, and hygiene which need to be adopted by everyone.
He also directed them to conduct Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Days (VHSND) every week. He asked them to provide data regarding reduction of SAMN.
The DC instructed Chief Medical Officer Kupwara to organize workshops for ICDS staff to improve their experience and knowledge.
Khalid Jahangir stressed upon the officers to be more careful with their duties as they are shouldering an important responsibility to take care of children, who are the future of the nation. He said a hefty amount is yearly being incurred on the nutrition of the children which should reach to them honestly and earnestly.
Earlier, the meeting was informed that there are 2320 Anganwadi Centres presently functioning in 11 ICDS projects in the district, in which 69693 children below 6 year age are registered with the department, besides 11416 pregnant and lactating mothers.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, CMO, DIO, AD Planning and project Officers of ICDS Kupwara.
