Awantipora: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that a Police Party of Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti at a checkpoint established near Braw Bandina intercepted one person identified as Sajad Ahmad Pala resident of Braw Bandina and upon checking 1kg & 700 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession, stating therein further that the above named suspect has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 135/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
