DHSK celebrates 8th Int’l Yoga Day

Srinagar: The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir today celebrated the 8th International Yoga Day 2022 and the event was attended by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar. The main function in this regard was held at Martan Sun Temple in Anantnag where the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare was chief guest. Yoga was performed by the chief guest and other participants with great enthusiasm. The event was also attended by Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Piyush Singla, CMO Anantnag Dr Mohd. Yousuf Zagoo besides other district officers and officials of the health department were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the MoS Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar said the celebration of Yoga Internationally was the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his desire to do something good for the people. He said to mark the 75 years of India’s independence, the Ministry for Ayush identified 75 locations for Union Ministers to participate in the Yoga Day celebrations. The MoS while underlying the development measures taken in Anantnag district he said a lot development measures have been taken in the district and people are taking 100 percent participation in Panchayat Raj and rural development. He also said that people are being benefitted through several government schemes that have been taken from time to time.
The MoS said it a moment of happiness that the officers and officials are working shoulder to shoulder in order take the government programs at the grass-root level for implementation. On the occasion, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said Yoga Day is a gift given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the whole world. He said theme for this year’s IDY celebrations is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. The Director said yoga is performed in several countries across the world and said it important for the physical and mental wellbeing of people. He urged to make Yoga part of life to gain both physical and mental health which is part and parcel of life.
The director thanked the MoS for taking time out of busy schedule and for participating in the International Yoga Day celebrations. Dr MA Rather also highlighted the role played by the health care workers during Covid-19 pandemic and hailed their efforts in successful vaccination coverage. Similarly, Yoga Day celebrations were also held in other District Hospitals across Kashmir valley which were participated by the concerned Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers besides other officials of the health department. International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 every year to celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world. The idea of the Yoga day was first proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 27, 2014. The date of June 21 was chosen as it is the Summer Solstice, the day where there is the most sun out of every other day of the year.
