Director inaugurates CESA at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar: Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) RakeshSehgal on Saturday inaugurated ‘Civil Engineering Students Association’ (CESA) at Department of Civil Engineering.
CESA is the first-ever students’ association of NIT Srinagar dedicated to Civil Engineering. It aims to impart skills and knowledge in Civil Engineering and Technology.
In future CESA will organize different events and workshops to provide students with real-time information, and build their all-around personality.
The inaugural event was attended by Director, Dr. (Prof.) RakeshSehgal and Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari. Head CE Department, Prof. A.Q Dar, along with other faculty from the department graced the event with their presence.
Addressing the gathering in his key speech, Prof.Sehgal congratulated the Chairman of CESA, Prof. Mohammad Shafi Mir, and faculty Co-ordinator, Dr.Parmeshwar for taking this initiative to support and polish the skills related to civil engineering and all-round development of the students.
He mentioned that Civil Engineering is the oldest discipline that started in NIT Srinagar and this association will help in the all-around development of the department and students.
Prof.Sehgal asserted that this association will prove beneficial to the students of civil engineering as it will connect them to the vast field of civil engineering and beyond.
Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari implied that this is the first association dedicated to Civil Engineering department and emphasized its importance in the field of Civil Engineering.
Prof.Bukhari also appreciated the organizers and faculty coordinator for the initiative.
“I hope that this association reaches new levels and unlocks many opportunities to the students of Civil Engineering department while contributing to their all-round development”, he said.
Head of Civil Engineering Department, Prof. A.Q. Dar expressed his joy over the initiative of the association stating that it will help in organizing extracurricular activities for the students of CE Department.
It will enlighten them about the vast opportunities that this field holds for them, he said.
Chairman CESA, Prof. Mohammad Shafi Mir appreciated the idea and efforts of the staff and students towards the formation of this association.
He also mentioned that there are plenty of events and tasks that can be focused on, to take the association to new heights and connect it to the world.
“This is the best ever thing that has happened to the Civil Engineering Department of NIT Srinagar”, he added.
Faculty co-ordinator, Dr.Parmeshwar shared the story of the formation of CESA and highlighted the mission and vision of the association.
He also informed about the upcoming events that the association is planning to organize.
Prof. A.Q Dar and Prof. Mohammad Shafi Mir felicitated the members of the association with membership cards and congratulated them for the successful execution of the event.
The session was attended by all students of CE Department and included a poster exhibiting a competition on the topic, “Eco-friendly and sustainable approaches/methods in CE”, in which students from all the branches of NIT Srinagar participated.
The posters and models of the participants were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising of the faculty members of CE and prizes were distributed among the top four rank holders of the competition.
The winners were presented with trophies and certificates of appreciation by Professor A.Q Dar and Prof. Mohammad Shafi Mir.
The organizers also expressed their gratitude to Director- NIT Srinagar Prof. (Dr) RakeshSehgal, Registrar Prof. Syed KaisarBukhari, HOD Civil Engineering – Professor A.Q. Dar, and faculty coordinator Dr.Parmeshwar for supporting the event and making it a great success.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by president CESA, Sheikh Aadil Rahim. He expressed his gratitude to Director NIT Srinagar Prof.Sehgal, Registrar Prof.Bukhari and Head CE Deptt. Prof. Dar for supporting such activities on campus.
He expressed his gratitude to Chairman CESA, Prof. Mir, and Faculty Coordinator CESA Dr.Parameshwar. Mr. Sheikh Aadil also thanked other faulty members of NIT Srinagar, members of the association, participants, and audience for being a part of the event and making it a success.
