DC Kathua reviews Annual Amarnath Yatra-2022 arrangements

DM also stresses on timely provisioning of facilities for pilgrims

Kathua: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Pandey Friday chaired a meeting to review the arrangements being put in place for smooth conduct of the Amarnath Yatra 2022.
SSP Kathua, DC State Taxes, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Principal GMC Kathua, DPO ICDS, Registrar (Yatra Officer), ACR, RTO besides other officers attended the meeting.
The DC, while reviewing progress of the arrangements, directed the concerned departments to focus on completion of remaining works well before the commencement of the Yatra.
The DC also asked the nodal officers to provide the list of staff to be deployed at Lakhanpur and along the yatra route for better monitoring and coordination of tasks assigned for facilitation of devotees.
The DC impressed upon the stakeholder departments to submit action plans related to provision of safe drinking water, power supply, Medical facilities, sanitation, installation of toilets, Sanitation facilities, lodging and langer facilities, Traffic and security arrangements etc. He directed the departments to work in tandem for finalizing the necessary arrangements at the earliest.
The DC also enjoined upon the concerned officers to keep the contingency plan ready to deal with any eventuality. He also called for making duty charts of the staff to be deployed, issuance of ID Cards and stressed on training & sensitization of Staff to facilitate the yatris.
Directing the concerned officers of NHAI & Tourism department, the DC called for ensuring installation of digital screens, hoardings and signages on Yatra route across the district.
The DC also directed DPO ICDS to ensure exhibition of local artifacts and products of SHGs at identified locations through Handicraft, Handlooms and NRLM departments. It was given out in the meeting that dedicated cultural stalls will be installed at identified Yatra points for the entertainment of the Yatris.
The DC stressed upon the active participation and role of volunteers viz NYC, NYK, NCC, NSS and Civil Defence organisations so as to ensure hassle free experience of the yatris.
The meeting also discussed in length facilities in lodgement centres, illumination of dark spots, establishment of SRTC counter, control room, disaster plan, check on quality of food and eatables, proper sanitation on yatra route and enforcement of anti-polythene measures etc.
SSP, R C Kotwal, while speaking on the occasion, apprised the meeting about the threat assessment and asked for staying vigilant besides sensitizing the public regarding the threat perception so as to ensure peaceful conduct of the yatra.
