CUK faculty participates in Biotech Start-up Expo-2022

New Delhi: Faculty members of the Department of Biotechnology, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) participated in the Biotech Startup Expo-2022, New Delhi, to celebrate 10-years of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC)
To mark the completion of ten years of setting up of BIRAC, Biotech Startup Expo– 2022 was launched with the theme ‘Biotech Startup Innovations: Towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.’ at Pragati Maidan, here on June 9. It featured approximately 300 stalls showcasing Biotechnology Applications in Healthcare, Genomics, Biopharma, Agriculture, Industrial Biotechnology, Waste-to-value, and Clean energy, among others. Being part of initiatives of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat, the university faculty members Dr. Nissar Ahmad Wani and Dr. Owais M. Bhat, from the Department of Biotechnology participated as representatives. The Scientists presented the progress and future directions of CUK to act as an active incubation centre to provide facilitative assistance to entrepreneurs and start-ups for new innovations. Besides, the faculty members got an opportunity to acquaint themselves with several new products funded by the BIRAC.
The existing programme was unique for entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders, scientists and researchers for futuristic collaborations of attendees. Heads of various Scientific organizations and concerned Ministries spoke on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah and Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar also participated in the expo through online mode.
