3 drug peddlers Held in Budgam &Anantnag, contraband substance recovered: Police

B’gam: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Budgam and Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that in Budgam one person namely Mohammad Altaf Malik son of Ghulam Mohammad Malik resident of Haripora Haran was reported to have indulged in drug peddling and hoarded narcotic substance in his residential house.
Stating that on receipt of this information, a Police party of PS Budgam headed by PSI Mohammad Adil Tak raided the specific location and upon checking recovered 3Kgs of Poppy Straw, 125 grams of charas from his residential house, police in it’s statement said that besides, cash amount of ₹13,500/- believed to be the proceeds of narcotic crime was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who has been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Stating further that in Anantnag, a police party from Police Station Anantnag during Naka checking intercepted two persons identified as Haamid Nisar Shah Resident of Reshi Colony Mir Dantar Anantnag and Suhail Ahmad Sheer Gojri resident of Brienty Batapora Dialgam , police in it’s statement said that upon checking 6.5Kg’s of Poppy Straw and 28 Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered from the possession of the above named accused who have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigation have been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
