DC Shopian convenes meeting of Revenue, Forest Officers

Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Monday convened a joint meeting of the Revenue and Forest Officers to chalk out a strategy of community forestation.
During the meeting, the DC directed for increasing the green cover in the district by involving people in management process of forests and also called for constitution of Forest Rights committees in their respective jurisdiction.
He also instructed Forest Officers to carry out institutional plantation drive on the war footing. They were also directed to devise a District specific app on the pattern of paredhar to resolve the grievances related to the forest issues.
The DC instructed the Tehsildars and Revenue Officers to remove illegal encroachments on the forest lands and submit a report in this matter. He also asked them to expunge the illegal entries on Forest, state lands and shamlats besides Kahcharai in their respective jurisdiction.
He also instructed them to carry out encroachment drives on illegal occupation for retrieval of the state/shamlat/ Kahcharai lands and subsequent use for community afforestation.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Shahbaz Ahmed Bodha; DFO, Shopian, Tehsildars, BDOs and all other concerned officers.
