B’pora: The Department of Youth Services and Sports Bandipora Monday organised inter zonal District level competition of Volleyball, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho for U/14 and U/ 17 Girls at Higher Secondary School (HSS)Nadihal.
The competition was kick started by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr.Owais Ahmed who was chief guest on the occasion.
He was accompanied by Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad and Padma shri awardee Faisal Ali Dar.
The competition for boys was conducted on 11th of June and the competition for Girls was conducted Monday.
400 boys from all zones of Bandipora district participated in the competition while 380 Girls participated from all the zones of district.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Owais said that Bandipora has already proved its mettle in various sports and has produced national coaches also besides gold medalists in sports field.
He assured full support from the District Administration in developing sports infrastructure in the district.
The DC lauded the efforts of the YS&S department for such initiatives and assured all support from the District Administration to carry forward the legacy of channelizing the sports talent of youth across the District.
He said extracurricular activities are essential for overall development and urged the students to take part in sports activities along with academics.
