Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has slammed his daughter and senior advisor Ivanka after she distanced herself from his claims of mass voter fraud.
On Thursday, an investigation into the 2021 Capitol riots had aired an unseen clip of Ivanka rejecting the claims.
In the clip, from her deposition aired on Thursday night, she was asked about her reaction when Barr said there was no widespread election fraud.
She said, “It affected my perspective. I respect Attorney General Barr so I accepted what he was saying.”
However, Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social: “Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results. She had long since checked out and was, in my opinion, only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as Attorney General (he sucked!).”
While Trump seeks to downplay his daughter’s role in his administration at the time of the January 6, 2021, riots, Ivanka Trump did still accompany her father to rally at the White House Ellipse that preceded the US Capitol attack, CNN reported.
Meanwhile, Select committee Chairman Bennie Thompson on Friday dismissed Donald Trump’s reaction and said, “For him to somehow insinuate that his daughter had checked out is disingenuous on his part as a father. Daughters normally know what their fathers are doing, especially when there is a close relationship.”
