Bal Gram High School Students sensitized on entrepreneurship dev in Agri

Jammu: A group of students from BAL Gram High School, Channi Rama Jammu attended training cum orientation programme on entrepreneurship development in Agriculture at Baba JittoKisan Kendra Jammu, here Saturday.
The programme was organized by Farmers Training Centre (FTC), Jammu under the overall guidance of Director Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Jammu, K. K. Sharma with the objective of creating awareness among youth regarding different activities being undertaken by the Department of Agriculture for the welfare of farming community and entrepreneurship deployment in agriculture.
Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), SubashChander Sharma, on the occasion stressed that youth should come forward to learn and adopt Scientific Agricultural Skills for efficient use of resources and adopt farming as income generating venture.
Deputy Director (Trainings), Deepak Kumar said that more opportunities for employment generation are being created in agri sector through expansion of forced vegetable cultivation, apiculture and mushroom growing on scientific lines.
Joint Director (Apiculture & Mushroom Development), R. K. Hitaishi and Agronomist ( Vegetable Improvement Scheme), J. C. Raina shared valuable tips with the students regarding adopting the Agriculture as business.
Detailed deliberations were made by the experts of department on different topics including mushroom growing, protected cultivation of vegetables, apiculture, plant protection, self-helpgroup’s formation, vermi-composting and kitchen/roof top gardening. The group also visited the Naturally Ventilated Poly Green House, Apiculture Section, Mushroom/Spawn production section, Vermi-compost structures at KrishiBhawan, Jammu.
Those who participated in the programme include Agriculture Information officer, Rohit Gupta, Training officers, KarunaNidhi& Deepak Singh, Demonstrators, Asmeeta Sharma & S. Amarjeet Singh besides other experts of the department.
