2 gamblers held in Sopore, Stake money seized: Police

Sopore: Police on Friday said that it has arrested 02 gamblers in Sopore and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that while acting on specific information about gambling activities in the orchards of village Batsuma, a police party of PS Dangiwacha raided the specific site and arrested two gamblers on the spot, stating therein further that both the said accused were identified as Irshad Ahmad Shah son of Muhammad Yousuf Shah and Javaid Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Razak Shah both the residents of Batsuma Rafiabad.
Stating that officers have seized stake money of ₹15,000/-, playing cards and a mobile phone from the gamblers, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 67/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation set into motion.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding gambling activities in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in gambling activities will be dealt as per law.
