Khalid Jahangir visits Karnah, chairs Mega Block Diwas at Tangdar

Kupwara: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Wednesday along with District Officers visited border sub division Karnah during which he chaired a Mega Block Diwas function at DakBanglowTangdar.
DDC Member Karnah, Najma Hameed; BDC Chairperson Tangdar, Riyaz Ahmad; BDC Chairperson Teetwal, Nishada Begum, SDM Tangdar, Dr.Gulzar Ahmad Rather, PRIs, besides, district officers, local administration and general public attended the day long block diwas programme.
Addressing the function, the DDC asked officers to play a proactive role in resolving the developmental issues of the people adding that the Government is committed to ensure equitable development of all segments of the people especially of border areas like Tangdar and Teetwal.
The DDC directed the concerned executing agencies of Roads and other developmental projects to redouble their efforts and ensure completion of all ongoing projects within the targeted period keeping in view the limited working season of the area.
He said that the Karnah is a border area and has tremendous scope for development of border tourism. He appealed to local people to cooperate with the District Administration for boosting the potential of border tourism.
The DDC stressed the need for upgrading houses in the border area to promote homestays so that the tourists who visit these areas can have proper facilities to stay there.
The DDC said that many trekking spots have been identified which are being developed and directed the Forest department to cooperate in promoting the trekking activities in the area.
The DDC directed the CEO Kupwara to ensure detachment of all the teaching staff if any to their place of postings. He also asked SDM to monitor the Education system in the sub division and directed him to rectify the local issues hindering developmental activities. The DDC also directed CMO Kupwara to ensure detachment of all medical staff if any so that people do not face any inconvenience.
Referring to drug menace, the DDC asked concerned officers to initiate a mass awareness campaign against the ill effects of the drugs.
After listening to various issues at the function, the DDC Kupwara passed on spot directions to the concerned officers for timely disposal of the issues raised.
Earlier, DDC Member, BDC Chairpersons and PRIs put forth various issues before the DDC Kupwara. The issues pertained to augmentation of power and water supply, macadamization of roads, upgradation of irrigation canals, installation of Scanning facility at Sadna top and other day to day issues.
