Kupwara: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Wednesday visited KheerBhawani Temple at Tikker Kupwara and expressed greetings to the Pandit community on the eve of MelaKheerBhawani festival. He was accompanied by Tehsildar Kupwara, DSP Kupwara and other concerned officers.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of the arrangements made by various departments including power, water supply, sanitation, transport, security, ration supply, medical facilities, lighting and other arrangements.
The Deputy Commissioner interacted with the devotees and Management Committee of the Temple and expressed his greetings on the auspicious occasion.
The Committee members also extended good wishes to the Deputy Commissioner and expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements made by the administration.
The Committee members while expressing their gratitude towards the District Administration said that the KheerBhawaniMela was made possible due to proactive support of all the concerned departments under the close supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara.
According to Tehsildar Kupwara, nearly 100 devotees from different parts of the J&K have arrived at the temple till 10 am this morning. He said more yatris are coming to celebrate the holy festival of MelaKheerBhawani with traditional fervour and enthusiasm.
