Handwara|: Police on Tuesday said that it has seized a vehicle for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Handwara.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that a police party of Police Station Qalamabad alongwith officials from Geology and Mining Department have seized a vehicle (tipper) for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Govt land at Qalamabad.
Police in it’s statement further said that legal action under the provisions of MMDR (Mines & Minerals Development and Regulation) Act has been registered in this regard and investigation has been initiated.
Police in the concluding para of it’s above-referred statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules but warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Police also urged people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
