Driver arrested, illicit timber seized in Handwara: Police

Handwara|Police on Monday said that it has seized illicit timber and arrested the driver of the vehicle in Handwara.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that during the intervening night of 5/6 June a Police Party from Police Post Zachaldara at a checkpoint established at Main Bazar Zachaldara intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK05C-4553 and upon checking, illicit timber was recovered from the said vehicle and the driver of the vehicle identified as Sonaullah wani son of Gh Rasool resident of Badkoot was arrested on spot.
Stating further that the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized, police in it’s statement said that the said accused been shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that a case FIR No. 153/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police warned that people found indulging in antisocial activities will be dealt with as per law.
