DGP Dilbag sanctions Rs 2.54 crore as Spl Welfare, ex-gratia relief

Srinagar: Continuing with its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families of the Police personnel/SPOs who have attained martyrdom or have passed away while in service, the Director-General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Special Welfare Relief of rupees 2.16 crore and ex-gratia relief of rupees 38 lakh for legal heirs of martyred/deceased police personnel/SPOs.
According to a police statement issued on Saturday ex-gratia relief of Rs 38 lakh under an order issued from Police Headquarter has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of Follower Bantoo Ji Sharma who died in a militant attack.
“Vide different PHQ orders special welfare relief of rupees 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of slain Ct Reyaz Ahmad,slain Ct Ghulam Hassan and also in favour of NoKs of deceased Police personnel ASI Kuldeep Raj, ASI Bashir Ahmad, ASI Kuldeep Raj, HC Ravi Ji, HC (Tel) Jaswant Singh, HC Balbir Chand and SgCt Suresh Kumar. These deceased personnel have passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service,” the statement said.
Rs one lakh each has already been paid to NoKs of these slain/deceased police personnel through their concerned units for performing last rites. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.
DGP has also sanctioned Special Welfare Relief of Rs6 lakh each in favour of NoKs of deceased SPOs Kuldeep Kumar, Rita Devi and Abdul Hamid Mir who have passed away during the course of their engagement in the department.
Rs 50 thousand each have already been paid to their families for performing last rites. The relief amount is sanctioned out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.
Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of slain police personnel, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
Maternal and child health priority sector of health care: DHSK
Srinagar: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather today said maternal and child health is a priority sector for the directorate and the services have been developed in every district 24/7.
The director said for maternal and child health the health department continues its efforts and the services have been upgraded over the past few years in every district 24/7.
For the paediatric health care services, he said neonatal intensive care units (NICU) and paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) have been created across hospitals in Kashmir.
Dr MA Rather said due to the improved services it has reduced infant mortality rate (IMR) and maternal mortality rate (MMR) to a large extent.
“We are almost doing wonderfully well across the country as the facilities have been improved over the past many years,” he said.
However, in order to further improve the services, the directorate has also desired to start 24/7 services in maternity and child health care health in various sub-district hospitals so that the referral rates are reduced and maternal and infant mortalities are reduced.
The directorate has also desired to start 24/7 maternity and child care services five days a week (from Monday to Friday) at SDH Chadoora. While other places are being explored in every district for starting of MCH services there.
