B’pora| : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed Friday reviewed preparations for World Environment Day celebrations in a meeting convened at Mini Secretariat, here.
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues related to cleanliness of roads, paths and water bodies.
It was informed that a weeklong cleanliness programme in view of world environment day shall start from Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed on sustainable cleaning programmes for the health and safety of citizens besides various other benefits. He said the administration is working on the mechanism to restrict use of single-use plastic to make Bandipora plastic free.
The DC directed the concerned to launch a cleanliness drive in schools and colleges besides involving the public at panchayat level. He said ensuring a clean environment is also our moral responsibility so everyone should take an active part in maintaining a healthy ecosystem.
He asked the concerned to involve Wular Mitras, Green ambassadors and school children in generating awareness regarding cleanliness and its benefits.
The DC also directed the concerned to chalk out a plan for sustainable cleanliness.
Meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Waseem Raja; Secretary DLSA, Fariqa Nazir; ACD Bandipora Ab Rashid Das; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Syed Altaf Hussain Mosavi; DFO Bandipora, Tehsildar Sumbal, BDOs, EO MC Bandipora, and other concerned Officers.
