Ang| : The five day annual Urs of Reshi sahib (Reshi moul soub) was held with great religious fervour at Anantnag.
Thousands of devotees thronged the shrine of famous Sufi saint Hazrat Reshi Sahib on his annual Urs. People travelled from neighbouring areas and different parts of the Valley to show their presence at the revered shrine with hope and faith.
The Urs concluded with special prayers by devotees including men, women and children who were seen offering special prayers and reciting verses of Holy Qur’an. This was followed by Duaiya Majlis.
During these five days, devotees abstained from eating meat, fish, chicken and beef as a mark of respect to the Wali.
During the five-day annual festivity being observed from (May 29 to June 2), religious scholars from across the UT deliberated upon different issues including the life of Hazrat Baba Hyder Reshi (Reshi Moul) Sb (RA).
The District Administration ensured uninterrupted power/water supply and healthcare facilities for the devotees and MC Anantnag had ensured special sanitation operation in and around the spot.
Islamic scholars said that Reshi sahib was a venerated Saint in Kashmir and regarded as last Giant of Reshi order of saints, and is popularly known as Reshi Mir soub and also known as Harda Reshi or Reshi moul but he possessed and exhibited miraculous powers from childhood. He was born in the family of a blacksmith on 17 January 1504 in Dantar Anantnag.
His shrine is located in the heart of Anantnag (Reshi Bazar Anantnag) which is a place of pilgrimage for Kashmiris of all communities.
