Srinagar: One migrant labourer was killed and another injured in a targeted attack in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening, officials said.
Police said the two labourers working at a brick kiln in Chadoora area of Budgam were fired upon by the militants.

They were shifted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital for treatment, of which one succumbed to his injuries, they added.

“Terrorists fired upon 02 outside labourers working in a Brick Kiln in Chadoora area of Budgam. The duo was shifted to hospital for treatment where one among them succumbed,” a police tweet said.

This was the second such incident of the day.

Earlier in the day, a bank Manager Vijay Kumar from Rajasthan was shot dead in a targeted attack at Kulgam in South Kashmir.

Soon after the attack, the security forces cordoned off the entire area to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti alleged that it is a total breakdown of law and order.

“Mayhem! Two more civilians shot at in Budgam. Total breakdown of Law & Order. Will the govt still parrot the narrative of normalcy or has it internalised its own propaganda. Condolences with Dilkhush’s family & praying for speedy recovery to the other. Has peace been ‘established?,” Mehbooba Mufti said in a tweet.
