Khansahib Budgam|June, 2: Maintaining that communal harmony and brotherhood has been the hallmark of centuries old tradition of Jammu and Kashmir , Chairman Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has called for defeating nefarious designs to create a wedge between the communities .
In a statement issued here on Thursday Hakeem said that eyeing on the forthcoming elections , many political parties were day in and day out issuing inflammatory statements to create hatred among different sections of the society adding that election battle should be fought on principals, not at the cost of brotherhood and harmonious human values .
Speaking to various public deputations during his tour to Gurwaith, Druggar and Watred villages of Khansahib constituency on Thursday Hakeem Yaseen, according to the above referred statement, while expressing dismay over the spate in targeted killings in Kashmir valley by unknown gunmen , cautioned against using unfortunate and inhumane tergetted killings as a ploy to satiate political gains . He said extending condolences and condemnations while mourning killing of innocents was all OK but these should in no way be aimed at tarnishing the age old traditions of amity and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir . He said exploiting religious and regional sentiments in the garb of condemning innocent killings was detrimental for secular ethos.
He said some recent statements under the garb of condoling innocent killings and extending sympathies with the bereaved families tend to breed an atmosphere of doubt and mistrust among the communities which was not in the interest of the country’s unity and integrity . ” No body should be allowed to build political castles on the graveyards and bloodbath of innocent people adding that ‘Onus lies on central government to act tough against the elements who were hell-bent to tarnish and weaken the glorious social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir. He said rehabilitation of the victims of gun from either side was the paramount duty of the government . He urged the government to take early and adequate measures to ensure safety of people and instill a sense of confidence adding that the spate in killings of soft targets has spread a wave of insecurity and the people feel helpless ,
unsafe and insecure ” Our all sympathies are with the victims of ongoing violence in Jammu and Kashmir and will continue to support them through thick and thin ,” support ,” Hakeem maintained. PDF Chairman also said that Kashmir was politically and strategically a supersensitive zone where internal peace and stability was essential for integrity and unity of the country. ” So peace for the region has to sprout from Kashmir by protecting it’s centuries old rich traditions of communal harmony and brotherhood ,” Hakeem urged adding that there was no alternative to promote the spirit of reconciliation and secular ideology . Hakeem listened to the grievances put forth by the people and assured. them that their grievances will be brought into the notice of concerned authorities for redressal.
