Drug peddler held in Budgam, contraband substance recovered: Police

B’gam : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that PP Hardipanzo received specific information through reliable sources about one person namely Parvez Ahmed Ganie son of Abdul Salaam Ganie resident of Hardulatina Beerwah having indulged in drug peddling and hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house.
Stating further that on receipt of this information, a Police party from PS Beerwah & PP Hardipanzo along with concerned Executive Magistrate raided the specific location and upon checking recovered 12Kgs of Poppy straw from his residential house, Police in it’s statement further said that the said accused has also been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that case vide FIR No. 63/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and further investigation has been initiated.
Police in it’s statement also said that the arrested drug peddler has been indulged in narcotics smuggling across the district and was changing his modus operandi frequently for the commission of illicit trade.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
