Kupwara: The District Administration Kupwara Wednesday conducted a mega Block Diwas programme at Payerpora in Hyhama block of Kupwara district. Block diwas programmes were also held at Changmulla-Zachaldara and Lalpora-Lolab.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir chaired the mega Block Diwas at Payerpora.
DDC Member Hyhama, Haji Sona-ullah Khan; ACD, ACP, BDO, district officers, PRIs, Anganwadi Workers and a large number of people participated in the Block Diwas.
Addressing the function, the DC stressed the need for prioritizing the community requirements over individual needs for greater welfare of the society.
He said that the district administration has issued a schedule for conducting joint umbrella camps in 73 panchayats across the district tomorrow on June 02 and appealed to the people to take part in the camps for getting enrolled under various centrally sponsored schemes at their doorsteps.
He said in addition to registration of the beneficiaries, awareness regarding centrally sponsored and beneficiary oriented schemes shall be provided to the people during these camps.
The DC stressed upon the officers to work with added dedication for completion of developmental works and at the same time cautioned those of any type of negligence either in utilization of funds or execution of works.
On the demand of PRIs, the DC directed concerned Tehsildar for removal of encroachments in the area so that development works could be executed smoothly.
Referring to sanitation, Khalid Jehangir urged the PRIs for joint efforts in maintaining cleanliness around water bodies and surroundings for conservation of water. He said that water conservation is the priority sector for the current financial year in the district. He directed the ACD for establishment of segregation sheds in each panchayat for proper disposal of polythene and solid waste.
Referring to Receiving Station Hyhama, the DC directed Executive Engineer Project Wing to complete the residual work in the Receiving Station including installation of feeders by July 2022 for smooth power supply to the Hyhama area. He also directed Executive Engineer PDD for installation of electric poles wherever required in Manigah area.
Referring to self-employment, the DC appealed to the educated unemployed youth to take self-employment as their profession as the present government is committed to boosting the livelihood of youth by providing various handholding schemes.
Referring to the macadamization of roads, the DC directed Executive Engineers for macadamization of all roads within 2 months.
Regarding cleaning of local shuls, the DC directed the BDO concerned to undertake the desilting work under MGNREGA.
Earlier, DDC Members and PRIs projected various developmental issues of the area before the chair.
At Zachaldara, Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir chaired the block diwas proceedings in which BDC Chairperson, Officers and PRIs participated.
Block Diwas was also held at Lalpora in Lolab Subdivision which was chaired by SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat. Officers, PRIs and the general public participated in the programme.
