Srinagar : With an aim to provide financial succour to the families of the Police personnel/SPOs who have died in the line of duty or have passed away while in service, the Director General Jammu & Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Special Welfare Relief of over rupees 2.38 crore and ex-gratia relief of rupees 55.50 lakh for legal heirs of slain/deceased police personnel/SPOs. He has also sanctioned financial assistance of Rs one lakh for the marriage ceremony of the daughter of a cop who died in the line of duty.
According to a statement issued from the Police headquarters an ex-gratia relief of Rs 38 lakh as per an order issued by PHQ has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of slain ASI Mohammad Ashraf Dar and Rs17.50 lakh in favour of dependents/legal heirs of slain SPO Zubair Ahmad shah.
The special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased Police personnel ASI Bodh Raj, ASI(Tel) Sanjay Razdan, HCs Dilshada Akhtar, Randhir Singh, Naresh Kumar, Kuldeep Singh and Raj Wali Mir, SgCts Ricpal Singh, Raj Kumar and Saleem Ahmad. These deceased personnel have passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service.
Rupees one lakh each has already been paid to NoKs of these deceased police personnel through their concerned units for performing last rites. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds. Special Welfare Relief of rupees 6 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPOs Javid Ahmad Kumar, Mohammad Ramzan Hajam and Mushtaq Ahmad who have passed away during the course of their engagement in the department.
Rs 50 thousand each has already been paid to their families for performing last rites. The relief amount is sanctioned out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs. Besides, the DGP has also sanctioned Rs one lakh as financial assistance in favour of NOKs of ASI who died in the line of duty to defray the expenses in connection with the marriage ceremony of his daughter. Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
