The extension of Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) for yet another five years shows Prime Minister’s consistent interest in educational hand holding of the youth of both Jammu & Kashmir and Ladhak Union Territories and particularly their deepening interest in pursuing in medical and engineering courses. Obviously the extension to this special scholarship scheme which otherwise would expire last year has come in view of the increasing response from the students of both Jammu & Kashmir and Ladhak Union Territories. Never forget that annual limit of the eligible candidates for this scholarship scheme is Rs 1.30 to Rs 4 laks in view of the annual expense of the stufents for medical and engineering courses. Since most of students opting for the said special scholarship scheme pursue medical and engineering courses, it is obviously clear that even those students who won’t normally afford to pursue medical and engineering courses due to increasing financial constraint are finding it easy to pursue medical and engineering courses now in the professional Colleges within the country. The extension of this scholarship scheme would consequently also reduced the bad trend of pursuing medical and engineering courses on capitation fee outside the country.  Interestingly the Government also increased the no of seats for engineering and medical courses different professional college across Jammu & Kashmir and eligible candidates won’t find it difficult now to pursue such courses in the medical colleges of Jammu & Kashmir quite easily as they won’t find stress of financial constraints on their minds and hearts while pursuing such courses in professional colleges in another four years, i.e, till 20026 in Jammu & Kashmir.

By all standards of understandabilities this Prime Minister’s special scholarship scheme won’t only educationally empower students of Jammu & Kashmir but it would also unprecedentedly reduce their concerns for jobs after completing their courses. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has rightly said youth of the Jammu and Kashmir can “dream big and realise their dreams too but ultimately all depends on the implementation of this scholarship scheme in another four years from now as the scheme would be operational till 2026.

Since the intake capacity for medical and engineering course is likely to rise in coming years keeping in view the increasing interests of the students for professional courses in both Kashmir valley and Jammu & Kashmir, the benefits of Prime Minister’s scholarship scheme is likely to benefit thousands of youth in next five years across Jammu & Kashmir. Interestingly the scheme is not restricted to only medical and engineering courses but also to the students shown interest in diploma engineering courses in both Government and Private Polytechnic colleges in Jammu & Kashmir. So by all standards of understandabilities this Prime Minister’s special scholarship scheme won’t only educationally empower students of Jammu & Kashmir but it would also unprecedentedly reduce their concerns for jobs after completing their courses. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has rightly said youth of the Jammu and Kashmir can “dream big and realise their dreams too but ultimately all depends on the implementation of this scholarship scheme in another four years from now as the scheme would be operational till 2026.
