Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug notorious peddlers in Srinagar and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that acting on specific information regarding the movement of drug peddlers in a vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing registration number JK13C-3415 around SP College & Barbarshah areas, a special checkpoint was established by PS Kralkhud at Barbarshah and two drug peddlers were arrested , stating therein further that during checking officers recovered 1kg of Charas like substance from the possession of the accused identified as Ghulam Hassan Bhat son of Ab Rahim Bhat resident of Mirgund Kanelwan Bijbehara and Sartaj Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie resident of Kanelwan Bijbehara and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating further that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No.20/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kralkhud and investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
