Handwara :Police on Saturday said that police alongwith civil authorities destroyed poppy cultivation in villages Bakihakar and Gorihakar falling in the jurisdiction of PS Handwara.
According to a police statement, a joint team comprising of PS Handwara along with officials of Excise Department and Executive Magistrate Handwara destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over vast area of land in villages of Bakihakar and Gorihakar.
Police in the above-referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulgingin drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances will be dealt with as per law.
