Says ‘SHGs to be roped in for better implementation of JJM’

Rajouri : Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Department (District Prabhari), Ashok Parmar, Saturday visited Rajouri and took a comprehensive review of development activities being carried out in the district during a joint meeting of concerned officers and public representatives.
District Development Council Chairman, ChowdharyNaseemLiyaqat, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, VikasKundal, Additional District Development Commissioner, Divisional Forest Officers Rajouri and Nowshera, ADCs Rajouri, Koteranka and Kakakote, ACR, ACD, SDM Thanamandi, SE Hydraulics, PO ICDS, ACP, AC Defence and DDC members, Rajouri, Thahamandi, Doongi and Sunderbani besides BDC members Rajouri and Doongi were present during the meeting.
DC briefed the meeting in detail about the physical and financial progess achieved under various schemes and programs being implemented by different departments in the district.
Regarding financial progress under District Capex budget 2021-22, it was informed in the meeting that total expenditure incurred as of now is 83.87 percent against the total outlay of Rs 91959.16 lakh. Besides, out of 3956 works, 2629 works have been completed during the period.
Reviewing livelihood generation activities being carried out under NRLM, Principal Secretary was informed about the measures being taken up to raise the socio-economic status of SHGs.
Later, Principal Secretary reviewed the status of implementation of JalJeevan Mission in the district.
SE Hydraulics informed the meeting that there are 293 sanctioned schemes under JalJeevan Mission worth an estimated cost of Rs 1723 crore. He apprised that the tenders for 265 schemes have been floated and are under technical evaluation stage.
While reviewing status of implementation of Amrit Sarovar Mission, it was informed that 93 ponds have been identified in the district which can be developed as Amrit Sarovars.
Principal Secretary, while assessing issues impeding smooth execution of developmental projects in the district, emphasized enhanced coordination among all stakeholders to resolve development bottlenecks and ensure timely completion of works.
While addressing the meeting, Principal Secretary asked the officers to ensure prompt and hassle free services to the general public besides taking effective measures to redress their genuine grievances.
Stressing on effective implementation of welfare schemes and programs on ground, he directed the officers to publicize welfare initiatives of the government to ensure maximum people are covered under these schemes. He asked the officers to personally visit all the works of their departments and regularly review progress for expeditious completion.
Principal Secretary also interacted with the public representatives who highlighted a number of issues and demands of their areas and sought immediate redressal of the same.
They put forth issues seeking improved road connectivity, strengthening of staff in schools, health care centres, up gradation of Jal Shakti and power infrastructure, development of water bodies and other issues of public concern. Besides, they demanded early functioning of water supply scheme at Channi Prat and Bajwal, renovation of old irrigation canals, desilting of irrigation canals, enhanced coordination between District Development Council and line departments.
Principal Secretary gave a patient hearing to all the issues assured that the same would be resolved in a time bound manner.
Stating that women are the worst sufferers in case of water scarcity, he asked for roping in SHGs for effective implementation of JalJeevan Mission. He also asked the officers of Jal Shakti Department to keep close liaison with PRIs and discuss with them all the schemes approved under JJM in their areas.
While taking note of non-cooperation by line departments with the PRIs, he asked the officers to get all the plans vetted by the District Development Council before submission to the concerned authorities.
