B’gam : Police on Friday said that police along with civil authorities destroyed poppy cultivation in the Beerwah area of Budgam.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that a police party of PS Beerwah along with officials of Revenue Department destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over 05 kanals of land at village ArabalPethZanigam area falling under the jurisdiction of PS Beerwah in district Budgam.
Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 61/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Beerwah and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed to people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
