According to statement issued by the University on Thursday during the study tour, the 4th-semester students of Master’s Programme in Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM) visited several areas in Gurez Valley including Tragbal, Razdan Pass, Kanzalwan, Izmerg, Bagtore, Tarbal, Dawar and Tulail.
The visiting students interacted with different tourism stakeholders, local residents and officials of the J&K Tourism Department. They also visited various home-stay ventures at Izmerg, Barnoi, Sheihkpora, Tulail and Dawar and interacted with their owners.
The students also held an interaction with a large group of solo women tourists who had travelled to Gurez from different parts of the country. They also participated in a trek to HabbaKhatoon Peak and Khandiyal Top and enjoyed the rich scenic beauty of the area.
The students were educated and guided about the importance of best tourism practices, environment protection and planned constructions to help increase the inflow of tourists to different popular tourist destinations.
Faculty members who accompanied the students highlighted the importance of such study tours that aim to give a practical exposure to them about theoretical aspects that they are taught in their classrooms.
