Huge quantity of poppy straw recovered in Pulwama: Police

Pulwama : Police on Thursday said that it has recovered huge quantity of poppy straw in Litter area of Pulwama.
In a statement issued on Thursday Police said that police Station Litter received inputs about a person namely Gulzar Ahmad Bhat son of GhulamNabi Bhat resident of Litter Pulwama having been indulged in drug peddling and hoarded a large quantity of contraband substances at his residential house.
Stating that a Police Party from PS Litter along with concerned Magistrate conducted raid at a specific location and upon checking 15 Kgs of Poppy Straw recovered from the said residential house, police in the above referred statement said that the accused person managed to escape from the spot and efforts are on to effect his arrest. Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 47/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Litter and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
