Distt Level Rope Skipping Championship organised at GDC Kathua

Kathua : District-level Rope Skipping Championship was held Thursday at Govt. Degree College Kathua.
The Championship was inaugurated by Principal GDC Kathua Prof.SumaneshJasrotia, who was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Besides, the advisory committee members, members of college sports board and members of District Rope Skipping Association were also present.
The championship was organised by Kathua District Rope Skipping Association in collaboration with Department of Physical Education GDC Kathua.
Principal Prof.SumaneshJasrotia, in his inaugural address, praised the District Rope Skipping Association and Department of Physical Education for their coordinated efforts to host the district championship. He encouraged the participants and appreciated their parents who let their children take active part in sports and physical activities. He also suggested the audience maintain their Body Mass Indexin order to keep themselves physically fit and healthy.
In this championship the participants from different schools of Kathua participated including students of GCW Kathua and GDC Kathua.
The students participated in six age groups viz: 8-10 years, 10-12 years, 12-14 years, 14-16 years, 16-18 years and 18-22 years. Almost 85 student-athletes have taken part in their respective age groups.
It is pertinent to mention that it is for the first time that a Rope Skipping championship is organised at GDC Kathua.
The proceedings of the opening and closing ceremony was carried out by Physical director GDC Kathua Dr J S Soodan.
Under 18-22 age category in women section Ms Gudia of GDC Kathua won the gold medal whereas in 18-22 age category Men Mr. Mohd. Ameen student of NCC GDC Kathua has won the gold Medal.
The prizes were distributed by the chief guest of the closing ceremony Retired Chief Engineer PWD T R Bhagatamong the winners of this championship.
The matches were officiated by Ms Tania and Ms Palak of GDC Kathua.
The matches were witnessed by senior faculty of the college Prof.RomilaGuleria, Prof.SeemaMalpotra, Prof. Raj Kiran Prof Jasvinder Singh, Prof.Rakesh Singh, Prof Ritu, Prof. Rajesh, DrRachna, Dr.VerinderSingh, Dr.Kamaldeep Singh, Dr.Shamsher Singh and others who were present Chairman Ashoka Law College Kamal Gupta, President of the Association Chain Singh, Organizing Secy. Ajay Sharma, State Secy. Ravi Andotra, Secy. Sanjay Bajrangi, Arpan Verma and Santosh Verma.
