DDC Kupwara reviews progress of works under BADP

DM Sets Sep 30 deadline for completion of BADP works, Receives feedback from officers who visited border areas

Kupwara:  The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Thursday directed concerned officers to ensure completion of all on-going works under Border Area Development Plan (BADP) by September 30, this year.
The DDC gave this direction Thursday while addressing a meeting of concerned officers, here, convened to review the progress of developmental works under BADP in the district.
The DDC reviewed the status of all on-going works one by one and received feedback from the officers.
Khalid Jahangir said that the deadline of 30th September for completion of all on-going BADP works is a Government decision, which should be implemented in letter and spirit. He said all required funds, as projected, shall become available to the concerned departments.
During the discourse of the meeting, it was given out that 107 different development works are under execution at an estimated cost of Rs.2576.36 lakh. The expenditure on these works up to ending March, 2022 is Rs.1658.29 lakhs. As many as 54 works are completed, while the rest of the works are at different stages of completion.
It was further informed that 31 works are under execution at an estimated cost of Rs.2622.31lakh under Model Village Scheme (MVS) of BADP. Of these 31 MVS works, 7 are in Machil, 11 in Keran, 12 in Gabra and one in Kunan of Kupwara district.
Khalid Jahangir also received feedback from the teams of District Officers who were deputed to border areas of Karnah, Keran and Machill on 24 and 25 of this month. He gave on spot decisions for immediate resolution of the issues noticed by the concerned officers during border visit and directed JD Planning and other concerned for further course of action.
He directed CMO Kupwara to make PHC Keran fully functional for the benefit of the local people. He directed him to dispatch one Dental Chair and strengthen the facilities including basic health care in the PHC. He also enquired about the status of Golden Card and was informed that next week enrolment camps shall be held in the areas to cover the beneficiaries.
On receiving feedback from ACP, the DDC gave directions for deployment of 4 to 5 teachers to Keran for holding additional classes for the students in the area.
The DDC asked Executive Engineer I&FC to keep the Guest House and other facilities functional in the area. He also passed directions for establishing a Tourist Facilitation Centre at TRC Kupwara for the tourists, visiting border areas of the district. He also stressed the need for joint visit of block level officers to these areas for which he asked for issuance of a calendar.
He directed the Agriculture Officer to make 100% saturation in KCC coverage.
The DDC directed Executive Engineer PDD to store CDF transformers and ensure proper usage wherever required. He also asked him to improve the power scenario in Keran including Naga, Khetan and Tringdiyan.
While receiving feedback of Machill area from ACD, the DDC directed concerned officers to ensure redressal of all issues and ensure completion of all developmental works as the area has limited working season.
Among others, JD Planning; ACD, ACP, CMO, DIO, ADP, AD Food, DSWO, Executive Engineers of different wings and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
